Plight of Indian Urban Poor in Global Era

The present book \'Plight of Indian Urban Poor in Global Era\' is based on the study undertaken at the instance of IIPA. The study was conducted in the National Capital Territory of Delhi. The objective of the study was: Factors contributing the growth- of slums, municipal needs for slum population and its cost, legal hurdles for low cost employment schemes and recommendation \' for the better management of slums. The data was collected with the Help of Secondary Sources. A questionnaire was developed for administering among selected officials/non-officials/local leaders and slum dwellers. Some main finding of the stud included: lack of proper census of population residing in slums, lack of information about employment schemes, gear in of municipal services including sanitation, street light, drinking water, and other facilities. To formulate policy for checking growth of slums in Delhi.
