Among modern disciplines, Dalit Studies is a branch of knowledge, which is vast like an ocean. Our society has witnessed a sea-change over past several thousand years. A new social and political culture has replaced the old one. People have developed politically, socially, culturally and economically, but, an unfortunate section of our society is still forced to live under the same hostile circumstances. Dalits, the ‘have nots’ are supposed to be the most unfortunate lot in our society, at the lowest strata. Some people may presume that they have no soul, spirit or life in them.
