India has witnessed several communal riots after independence, some of them were sever in nature that claimed thousands and thousands of lives and caused damages to the property and the cultural heritage of the nation. Police is the main executive machinery to contain the communal riots and maintain peace in the society but its role has been generally criticized during and after the communal riots. The main riots of the country and responsible factors behind them have been discussed in the book and tries to find out the factors for instigating the communal riots in present scenario and judge the role of police as a crisis manager in the society.
