"Sankara Menon was the first Headmaster and then Principal of the Besant Theosophical High School. Later on, he was the Joint Director of Kalakshetra, helping Rukmini Devi in all her educational work. On her passing away in 1986, he succeeded her as Director of Kalakshetra. He was respected and loved by all those who were fortunate to know him. He was goodness personified which prevailed in his presence. Sankara Menon educated students by his example. His vast knowledge of Eastern and Western philosophies, Indian Fine Arts, Sanskrit, Malayalam and English literature, made one wonder how a person could embody such wisdom.
Peria Sarada\'s grandmother Smt. Lakshmi Ammal used to welcome Sankara Menon calling him Purushothaman whenever he visited their house to study the Upanishads with her husband Pandit S. Subramania Sastri. To her, he was the example of a noble human being.
Hence the title of this book."
