Begins with the distant and legendary past of Gomantak -the Goa of today. It unfolds to the reader not only the story of this beautiful land, but also attempts to provide the general panoramic aspects of Goa.

To enable the reader to grasp the various trends in architecture evidenced in the various monuments, the author has taken pains to provide in it and introduction to Greek and Roman art and their influence on the architectural expressions in the execution of the exteriors and the interiors of the several Monuments in Old Goa.

The author has consulted a very large number of sources, primary as well as secondary, in English and in Portuguese. There is no doubt about the range of her scholarship and the soundness of her historical argument.
