The book is a modest attempt to offer a historical and sociological interpretation of the novels of Bhabani Bhattacharya, a great Indian novelist in English. It covers almost all the major novels e.g. So many Hungers Music for Mohini, he who rides a tiger A Goddess Named Gold and A dream in Hawaii. Historical and sociological issues like varieties of hunger, the Bengal economic-cultural situations the synthesis of values capitulation of tradition to modernity protest against exploitation and novel as art form have been critically analyzed and explored.

History doesn\'t simply mean an enumeration of important events. There are or may be certain events in the life of nation, which have their own intrinsic importance but they are significant chiefly because they generate ideas which in their own turn, condition and re-condition the shape of things to come.
