Little attention has been given to TB languages spoken in North East India. This volume contributes by filling the gap. Bringing together original contributions by scholars, researchers and native speakers, the chapters include wide coverage of TB languages spoken in the north-eastern states of India. The contributors in the volume associated with UPE project show how the trends in TB languages can be analyzed in a refreshingly new way.

The volume provides a rich and detailed introduction to widely spoken TB languages as a compact package of UPE project on TB languages at the Department of Linguistics. NEHU, Shillong. It makes a real contribution to linguistics diversity for which this area is widely known. In particular, it also sheds light on grammatical, phonological, lexical and semantic features with special reference to ecological conditions of languages. Researchers students and teachers will find the book both compelling and engaging. (jacket)
