The Collection of select speeches from the Palace Archives, Jaipur consists 85 speeches delivered at Maharaja Man Singh II of Jaipur and his contemporaries between 1931-1941, a decade which was a peaceful State princely India.
Maharaja Man Singh II, born in a noble family was adopted by his uncle Maharaja Madho Singh II and was groomed to be a ruler of the foremost state of Rajputana.
Familiar with socio-economic condition of his State and equipped with modern education the Maharaja started taking interest before he was invested with full ruling powers. On the eve of the investiture ceremony he spoke on the opening ceremony of water lifting system from Jamwa Ramgarh irrigation tank in 1931. Then he took an extensive tour of his State, opened new buildings of educational institutions at Bagar & Pilani and Maharaja College of Jaipur. A new Hospital was opened by the Maharani Sahiba and the Lady Willingdon Hospital (presently known as Sawai Man Singh Hospital) in 1936.
As a sportsman he won all eight Polo matches in England in 1933 and his team became the world champion. The credit of constructing Sanganer airport also goes to him. He raised two military units and actively participated in the Second World War.
This book presents a complete scenario of socio-economic life in the first decade of the Sawai Man Singh's rule from 1931-1941 in Jaipur State.
